据谷歌官方博客周二称，谷歌对新版Picasa 3.0及Picasa网络相册作出了重大技术升级，加入了脸部识别技术，并在Picasa相册中加入了全新的“姓名标签(Name Tags)”功能，可帮助用户迅速标记相片中的所有人物，从而根据相片中的人物分类和共享相片。
谷歌博客称，姓名标签功能运用先进技术自动分类相似的人脸，帮助用户迅速标记相册中的所有人物。标记完成后，用户可以轻松进行各种操作，如制作一个用户本人与某位至交好友所有相片的幻灯片，或是与出现在相册中的每个人共享聚会相片等。
此外，Picasa网络相册的全新外观干净整洁，这让相片看起来很大；加入了“Explore”页，允许用户浏览谷歌网站最有趣的公众内容，如上传至网络相册的“最新相片”等。此外，用户还可通过电子邮件直接向Picasa相册发送相片。
谷歌周二推出Picasa 3.0测试版，在picasa.google.com提供下载。Picasa 3.0拥有一个“网络同步(Sync to Web)”按键，用户可以将PC上的特定相册同步上传至网络。
